About Kid's Exercise & Food Journal

Kid's Exercise & Food Journal

The Kid's Exercise & Food Journal is an online exercise and food tracking service for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Both the online and paper version of the Kid's Exercise & Food Journal encourages children to eat and track their daily recommended cups of fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, and water, and provides for a daily and monthly series of awards and badges as each child learns to eat healthier and begins a lifetime of healthy eating habits. Teachers and parents may expand upon these online awards with tangible items that children may receive as they earn a certain number of daily smiley stars and monthly badges.

Teachers may include the online or paper Kid's Exercise & Food Journal tracking features into a class curriculum on nutrition, health and wellness, and hold a monthly ceremony for the class to cut out and glue their badges to a wellness certificate displayed on the classroom wall. Parents may use the tracking features to improve the daily planning and encouragement for each child to eat their daily recommended cups of fruits and vegetables, and to "try new foods" on a periodic basis.

A children's "wellness certificate" may be downloaded and used as a class or home art project to display the healthy eating accomplishments of each child. The certificate offers a unique opportunity for teachers and parents to remind children to eat healthy every day so that their badge number and color increases with each succeeding month.
